Scouts BSA

Due to the evolving situation with COVID-19, otherwise known as coronavirus, all meetings and events run by the District Committee have been postponed.

We are communicating as we gather information via email lists, so please make sure your leaders are on the district email list and that their position is listed correctly. This will allow us to get them specific information that relates to them.

There are many ways to continue Scouting while maintaining social distancing and we encourage everyone to take advantage of those opportunities.

Please reach out to your commissioners during this time if you have any questions, concerns, or are in need of guidance. That is why they commission!

Yours In Scouting,

Chris Blocher, Tonkawa Assistant District Commissioner

In response to the email sent out on March 13, 2020 by Scout Executive John Coyle instructing Longhorn Council Scouters to follow the school district calendars and not to commence meetings or activities until at least March 27th. Being that we serve scouts and leaders in multiple school districts and that we will not be able to meet to finalize awards and plans for the banquet until the day of the banquet if we adhere to this directive, district leadership has decided to postpone the District Award Banquet.

Once the district committee has finalize plans for the future date, we will address any needs for refunds or updated reservations for the event.

Please continue to scout safely!

Lewis Gonzales, District Chair & Bob Hammer, District Commissioner

REMINDER: All Award Nomination are due no later than February Roundtable.  Please submit them directly to Gary Utrup or through the link

Topsanah District is performing Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) on March 6th, 2020 at 5:30 PM until March 7th, 2020 at 7:00 PM. This Friday/Saturday training for Scouts BSA leaders and Cub Scout leaders moving into Scouts BSA will be held at Briarwood Camp.  If you have any questions or wish to register, please contact Fran Zaccaria.

Due to the weather, many of the participants of the course have opted to stay home. At this point, to be fair to other participants and staff, we have postponed IOLS/BALOO to a later date so that everyone may experience the full benefit of networking and training. A day and time will be announced soon.

Thank you for understanding and we apologize for the inconvenience. Everyone please stay safe and warm this weekend.

Jeff Thompson
Training Chair
