National has created new medical forms that will replace the Class 1, 2 & 3 forms currently in use.  The new forms may be used immediately and will become mandatory on January 1, 2010.  Several things that have changed:

• Everything is combined into a single form.
• The form is an electronic PDF form that can be saved once data is entered and then printed or emailed!
• There is no longer a different set of instructions if you are over 40 - everyone is the same now.

Everyone must complete sections A & C on the form and section B is for those participating in high adventure or similar activities.  The forms can be found on the Scouting.org Health and Safety site.  The letter sized (8.5 x 11") version can be downloaded directly here.  Additional forms, including immunization exemption and medical care exemption forms can be found on the site as well.

National has launched a new community portal/blog site focused specifically on Scouting.  It is open to anyone in Scouting 14 yrs old and up.  To sign up, you can go to the My Scouting site and create an account if you don't have one and then go to the Scouting Community site.

There are groups within the community for the Longhorn Council, the High Adventure bases and many other aspects of Scouting.  I have created a group for Tonkawa District that is open to join.

In an effort to serve the district members better and provide more timely updates of content, we have upgraded the district website to a new software package called Joomla!. This new package will allow anyone who has registered to submit articles and content from their browser, allow uploading and downloading of documents and overall better management of information needed by volunteers in the district.

In order to participate, please register for an account, as that will give you access to additional content as well as will allow you to upload documents and articles.

We are still migrating the training registration from the old District website, so please be patient while we get this functionality moved.
